News 1 - NDMC appointed Rio Olympic Medalist Deepa Malik as one of their brand ambassadors for its Swachh program
New Delhi Municipal Council, NDMC, has appointed Rio Olympic Medalist Deepa Malik and first female amputee to climb Mount Everest Arunima Sinha as brand ambassadors for its Swachh program.
This announcement was made by the NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar. NDMC also has decided to make Parliament Street as disable friendly road under the Sugamya Bharat - a scheme launched by Prime Minster of India for the Divyangjan.
News 2 - Kenyan runner David Rudisha to be the Mumbai Marathon event ambassador
Kenyan middle-distance runner David Rudisha is the International Event Ambassador for the 14th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon.
David Rudisha is the reigning Olympic and world 800m champion and world record holder. He was the 2010 IAAF World Athlete of the Year.
David was also the Track & Field News Athlete of the Year for three consecutive years between 2010 and 2012. The Mumbai Marathon will held on January 15.
News 3 - Gionee announced Virat Kohli as its new brand ambassador
Gionee India has announced cricketer Virat Kohli as their new brand ambassador. Virat Kohli will join actress Alia Bhatt for campaigning activities. Gionee aims to achieve target as much as 2.5 times in 2017 and has already marked 1.2 crore customers in India.
Gionee has also sponsored the IPL cricket team Kolkata Night Riders, football club Shillong Lajong (part of the ISL) and Pro Kabaddi League for the last few years. Gionee will set up 500 brand stores by March 2018 in India.
News 4 - Kapil Dev inducted into the Legends Club Hall of Fame
Cricket icon Kapil Dev was inducted into the Legends Club 'Hall of Fame' at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai. Kapil Dev, who led India to the emphatic World Cup victory in 1983, is considered as the country's greatest all-rounder.
He was presented with a citation by former India player and Legends Club President Madhav Apte. Gavaskar was also presented a citation by Wadekar. He was already inducted into the club's Hall of Fame on July 11, 2013.
News 5 - Famous Indian doctor G.N. Rao selected for Ophthalmology Hall of Fame
The 2017 Ophthalmology Hall of Fame instituted by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery selected Gullapalli N. Rao, an eye specialist surgeon from India to include in Ophthalmology Hall of Fame. It is an honour for pioneers in ophthalmology for their distinguished careers in modern ophthalmology. Since 1999, 55 scientists and physicians of all generations have been honoured with this recognition.
The AIIMS pass out post graduate Gullapalli N. Rao returned to India and founded the L V Prasad Eye Institute in 1987. Presently, he is President of the prestigious Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis.
