1 - Jain monk Tarun Sagar Passes Away

On September 1, 2018, Jain Monk Tarun Sagar passed away at Radhapuri temple in Delhi. He was 51 years old and had been suffering from illness since long.

Original name of Monk Tarun Sagar was Pawan Kumar Jain and birth place was Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. His most popular lecture is “Kadve Pravachan,” which is followed by most of the people of Jain community.

2 - Agricultural Economist Vijay Shankar Vyas Passes Away

Padma Bhushan awardee and agricultural economist Vijay Shankar Vyas has passed away in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

VS Vyas was 87 years old. In his professional career, he has held various positions including senior advisor in the agriculture and rural development department of World Bank; member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council; director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), Jaipur.

3 - Mehlli Gobhai, Mumbai-based Artist Passes Away

Mehlli Gobhai

Internationally renowned artist Mehlli Gobhai passed away at the age of 87.

He had worked in New York City, US for more than 20 years and returned back to Mumbai, India in 1980s where he organized many solo and group shows. He has given his performance in many of the countries of this world.

4 - India’s first woman IAS officer Anna Rajam Malhotra Passes Away

IAS officer Anna Rajam Malhotra

First woman IAS officer of Independent India, Anna Rajam Malhotra, passed away at her home in Andheri, Mumbai. She was 91 years old.

Anna Rajam was born as Anna Rajam George in Ernakulum, Kerala, in July 1927. She joined civil services in 1951 in the Madras cadre. In her service, she served as chairperson of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). She had worked under 7 chief ministers of Tamil Nadu. In 1989, she has been honoured the Padma Bhushan award.
