News 1 - Shri Rajnath Singh releases the illustrative book “Ayodhya ke Shoorvir”

Ayodhya ke Shoorvir

The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh released an illustrative book of Central Reserve Police Force titled “Ayodhya ke Shoorvir” in New Delhi. The book depicts the saga of valor of CRPF in foiling the terrorist attack on the Ram Janam Bhumi - Babri Masjid Complex on July 05, 2005.

The CRPF is publishing a series of illustrative book Shaurya Gathayen on the valor of its officers and men. Till now there are four such books – Sardar Post: Ek Shaurya Gatha, Veer Brighunandan, Shurveer Prakash, Janbaz Elango that have been published.

News 2 - “Ringside with Vijender” penned by author Rudraneil Sengupta released

Juggernaut Books published a book titled “Ringside with Vijender” written by Rudraneil Sengupta, that details the Beijing Olympics Bronze Medalist Vijender Singh’s life, the ups and downs of his life to become a World Champion Boxer. It also describes about his Training, Struggle, Boxing Style, change in his life style and his success mantra.

The Haryana based boxer Vijender will make his Indian player debut on July 16 in the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Championship title bout against the Australian Kerry Hope at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New Delhi.

News 3 - Who Moved My Interest Rate? authored by former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subbarao

Who Moved My Interest Rate

“Who Moved My Interest Rate?”, an auto-biography, authored by former RBI Governor, Duvvuri Subbarao, was released on the 27th July 2016. Mr. Subbarao, in the book, writes about his five years at the country’s central bank, between 2008 and 2013 which was an unusually turbulent period for the world and for India. The global financial crisis erupted within a week of his assuming office. Then came the stubborn inflation during 2009-11 followed by a sharp depreciation of the rupee starting mid-2012.

This book is an insider’s account of the dilemmas and quandaries Subbarao confronted while leading the Reserve Bank through the extraordinary economic and political challenges. Mr. Subbarao, in a chronicle order, has made an attempt to demystify the Reserve Bank and explain to the public its impact on their everyday lives.

News 4 - Courage & Commitment authored by Margaret Alva released

Courage & Commitment: An Autobiography by Margaret Alva was in the news in the second week of July 2016. The book is the story of her life - from 1942 to 2014 detailing its trials and triumphs. The book reveals how a woman, a minority, from a small town middle class family grew up and survived in the turbulent politics of her times, without the backing of money power or business lobbies.

She has narrated her forty-year-old career under four Prime Ministers, namely Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh. It also tells us about her transition from a Politician to a Governor. She has also offered rare insights into the lives of National and International Political Luminaries.

News 5 - The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable authored by Amitav Ghosh released

The Book titled – The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable authored by Amitav Ghosh was released on the 12th July 2016. The book is an extended essay of sorts on climate change, the catastrophe unfolding around us and the conspiracy of silence around the dangers of it. Through the book, he examines the failures of literature, history and politics in addressing the most pressing challenge of climate change.

Ghosh's other books include The Circle of Reason, The Shadow Lines, In an Antique Land, Dancing in Cambodia, The Calcutta Chromosome, The Glass Palace, The Hungry Tide and the Ibis Trilogy: Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke and Flood of Fire.

News 6 - Defence Minister and HRD Minister Releases Three Books on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

The Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar and Union Minister of Human Resource Development Shri Prakash Javadekar released three books on the life of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The books entitled “Dr Kalam, Prerna ki Udaan” in Hindi, “Do You Know Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam” in English and “Prerna Nu Zarnu: Dr Abdul Kalam” in Gujarati language which have been written by Dr. Unnat Pandit to pay tribute to Dr. Kalam on his first death anniversary.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Parrikar said that, “Dr. Kalam was known for his simplicity, thinking big to dream and putting energy to achieve that dream”. He said, Dr. Kalam’s scientific and nationalistic thought and his views on spirituality will always give motivation to students and youth of India.

News 7 - Book 'Tilak in Our Times' released by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Pune

A book titled “Tilak in our Times” and the photo biography “Lokmanya” were released by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Pune in a Function organized by Lokmanya Tilak Vichar Manch and Pune International Centre to commemorate the 160th Birth Anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and the Centenary Year of his slogan, “Swaraj is my Birthright”.

The Maharashtra Government has renamed Girgaum Chowpatty in Mumbai as Swaraj Bhoomi as a tribute to Lokmanya. The Government has formed a committee headed by Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and Education Minister Vinod Tawde to handle the Ganesh festival this year dedicated to Lokmanya.
