1 - Sushil Kumar and Mary C. Kom resign as National Sports Observer

Wrestler Shri Sushil Kumar and Boxer Ms Mary C. Kom have submitted their resignation as National Sports Observers. As both the top athletes are still active in their respective fields, wrestling (Men) and Boxing (Women), they felt that this could be seen as conflict of interest. Keeping in mind the best of the sporting traditions the athletes submitted their resignation. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has accepted their resignations as National Sports observers.

2 - Brazil’s 2002 FIFA?World Cup-winning superstar Kaka announced retirement

Former Brazil attacking midfielder Kaka has announced his retirement from football. Kaka was a member of the Brazil side that won their fifth FIFA World Cup™ title at Korea/Japan 2002. He also won two FIFA Confederations Cup crowns in 2005 and 2009. He was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2007. The Brazilian joined Milan in 2003 and stayed for six years before joining Real Madrid for a then-world record €65m (£56m) fee.

3 - Justice Swatanter Kumar, Chairperson of NGT, retired

National Green Tribunal (NGT) Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar has retired from the post after completing his five-year tenure. Justice Umesh Dattatraya Salvi has now been appointed as the new NGT Chairman. During his five-year tenure, Justice Kumar delivered several landmark decisions like the ban on 10- year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol vehicles, the slew of directions for rejuvenation of the Ganga and Yamuna, the demolition of illegal hotels in Himachal Pradesh and the ban on plastic items in Delhi, Haridwar and Punjab.

4 - Airtel Payments Bank CEO Shashi Arora resigned

Shashi Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Payments Bank, has resigned after a firm’s e-KYC (know your customer) licence suspension by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Arora joined Airtel in February 2006 and was appointed as the CEO of Bharti Telemedia. The UIDAI had barred Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payments Bank from conducting Aadhaar-based verification of customers using the e-KYC process.
