1 - Keylong: First Railway Station Inside Tunnel
India’s first railway station inside tunnel named as the Keylong station is going to be built at a height of 3,000 metres in Himachal Pradesh.
It will be built along the Bilaspur-Manali-Leh line, which is close to the Sino-India border. The tunnel is 27 km long, which will connect all important locations between Bilaspur and Leh such as Sundernagar, Mandi, Manali, Keylong, Koksar, Darcha, Upshi and Karu and other towns of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
2 - Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Opened For Traffic
The world’s longest sea bridge (55 km long) Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge between Zhuhai (China) and Hong Kong has opened for traffic on October 24, 2018.
The bridge is constructed (took 9 years to be completed) on the Lingdingyang waters of the Pearl River Estuary. It will reduce travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai, in China, from 3 hours to merely 30 minutes.
3 - World’s Largest Dome Inaugurated In Pune
The world’s largest dome was inaugurated at Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT)’s World Peace University (MIT-WPU) campus located at Loni Kalbhor, Pune. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India inaugurated it on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The dome has been built atop MIT World Peace Library and World Peace Prayer Hall. It has been named after the 13th century poet-saint and philosopher Dnyane.
The dome has a diameter of 160 feet, which overtakes the previous record held by Vatican Dome, which has a diameter of 139.6 feet.
It stands 263 feet tall with a bell hanging from the centre.
It has a prayer hall with an area of around 30,000 sq ft.
It is supported by 24 massive columns and each column is 63 feet tall.
