1 - Rohan More youngest to conquer Ocean Seven
Indian swimmer Rohan More created history after became the youngest individual in the world to complete the Ocean Seven challenge. He also became the first Asian and the first Indian to swim across the Ocean Seven. He is the ninth individual in the world to complete this task.
Ocean Seven is a swimming marathon consisting of seven channel swims. In 2017, Rohan More was awarded the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2016-2017 (in the Water Adventure Category) by the Honourable President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.
2 - Roger Federer became oldest No. 1 in tennis history
20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has become the oldest world number one in Tennis history. The 36-year old Swiss replaced Rafael Nadal at the top of the standings. Federer surpassed Andre Agassi, who held the top spot aged 33, in 2003.
Federer first became world number one in February 2004 but has not topped the rankings since October 2012. He slipped to 17th in January 2017. Since then, the Swiss star has won eight titles, including Wimbledon last year and two Australian Opens.
3 - Sanjiv Bajaj named EY entrepreneur of the year
MD of Bajaj Finserv, Sanjiv Bajaj, has been named as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017. Mr Bajaj will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo from June 13-17, 2018.
E. Sreedharan, who lead the metro projects in Delhi, Kolkata, Kochi, and Lucknow, was honoured with the lifetime achievement award. The consulting firm also named nine other category winners for the Entrepreneur of the Year Program. The nine-member jury was led by Dilip Shanghvi, Managing Director, Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries.
4 - Flying Officer Avani Chaturvedi became first Indian woman to fly a fighter jet
Flying Officer Avani Chaturvedi became the first Indian woman fighter pilot to fly a fighter aircraft when she flew a MiG-21 Bison in her first solo flight in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
The MiG-21 Bison has the highest landing and take-off speed in the world - 340 km/ph. Chaturvedi completed her training at Hyderabad Air Force Academy. Avani was commissioned into the fighter stream after basic training in June 2016 along with Bhawana Kanth and Mohana Singh.
